Course Title: Literacy Lab - Foundational Reading

Course Description: 

The English Language Arts Resource program at New Los Angeles Charter School engages students to cultivate a love for reading and writing.  Students will be focusing on their ability to read text for understanding, improving their word reading skills, and developing an appreciation for reading in themselves.  In writing, we will focus on organizing their thoughts into powerful written expressions in narrative and expository text.  

We will practice reading in a variety of ways.  We will analyze novels, poetry, plays, essays, and primary sources. Students will have an opportunity to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways, including projects, essays, classroom discussions and demonstrations of knowledge.
